Point of View
The Black Cat is told by a first person narrator; a narrator who is also a person.
Genre
The genre of the story is considered sensation fiction. When reading the story most would think of it as horror from all of the violence and gruesome deaths.
Tone
The tone of the story is dark, but the way the narrator tells it doesn't make it seem that way because he doesn't have much emotion or regret for what he has done.
